- In 1990, as we were driving through a little village, I noticed a quaint old barn with a corrugated roof, and a newly-built house adjacent to it. They were standing on a large plot of land, full of pernicious weeds - a corner of a farmer's field, in fact. Then we saw the "For Sale" sign. Oh my, the Crocosmia is gorgeous. I love that red colour. It is wonderful. Your waterlilies are covering the pond so beautifully. What a beautiful setting you have!

It was the waterlilies that caught my attention too - so many of them how delighted you must be!
The praise for the ponds goes to my beloved husband...all his own work :) I just admire them ...amd love them!
As I said, shirl, praise where praise is due...to my hubbie :) I do love to sit by the ponds and admire his handiwork. I'm like a child, calling to him,'Come on outside and see how many lilies are out in bloom today!'
I love your water lilies too! Your pond looks huge, how big is it? Do you have fish (and herons!) We have to keep strings across ours to stop the heron fishing :-) Great post with lovely photos.
Welcome, Chris. Both ponds are around 25 by 25 square feet. We do have occasional problems with a heron as there is a heronry behind us in the nearby woods:(
We tried a decoy, but no....and the ponds are too large to stretch string across...I did see electric wires across the pond at Windsor Castle this past summer!
