Thanks, Ruth. We did enjoy them and I thought of my dear friend who gave us the 'runners' 16 years ago, for she passed away a few weeks ago, but that invisible link is still running between us.
Gardeners are such generous people I think. I love to receive presents of seeds or cuttings from friends, for these plants become more precious then, and forever associated with the friend who gave them, and like the friendship, they keep on growing and spreading to other friends as well...and I love to pot up cuttings, and to share my seeds with others too, for, in that way, they, too, have something of me in their garden.
I love this idea of recording our blooms, I keep a monthly journal too :-) So many strawberries!! We have had about a dozen but are building up our plants for next year. I love the pond pics too. A great post, thank you :-)
Good morning, Chris, and a warm welcome to you on another sunny but chilly day here at Barleycorn.
Our strawberries started off small in number too but they soon multiply. I save the runners and change the old ones, which get that 'woody'look, every third year. that way, the new crops are insured.
oh Tigger I've had my end of July fix wonder what glories you have in store for August ... saw the little frog - I've just posted something about a frog you might like to see *!*
Welcome, bimbimbie. Lovely to see you again. I'm glad you enjoyed the photos of July in our garden. Thanks for visiting us again.
A warm welcome, Becky. The little frog is really sweet, just sitting there on the lily, yet camouflaged. The strawberries are scrumptious...all finished till next year now...
In 1990, as we were driving through a little village, I noticed a quaint old barn with a corrugated roof, and a newly-built house adjacent to it. They were standing on a large plot of land, full of pernicious weeds - a corner of a farmer's field, in fact. Then we saw the "For Sale" sign. Four months later we moved in and decided to create a garden for wildlife.
