Hi, Ruth! Yes, it really is a good thing to encourage hedgies in the garden, for they gobble lots and lots of pests like slugs and snails. We have thrushes too who use the piles of logs and stones I have scattered around the garden as their anvil.
Very nice photos. I have never seen a real one like this so I am always interested.

Hello, Sheila, and welcome. That catchy little song about the hedgehog was one I taught my little nursery children each year. They loved it so much that, one year at the end of term, they bought me a stepping-stone for my garden with a hedgehog on it and that now starts off the hedgehog walk...another year they gave me a little hedgehog made of dough, which now sits on a little table in my lounge. I have such happy reminders, both in my garden and in my home, of all the little children I taught.
