- In 1990, as we were driving through a little village, I noticed a quaint old barn with a corrugated roof, and a newly-built house adjacent to it. They were standing on a large plot of land, full of pernicious weeds - a corner of a farmer's field, in fact. Then we saw the "For Sale" sign. Four months later we moved in and decided to create a garden for wildlife. contact me

How many ponds are there and are they interlinked at all? What about the tadpoles have they legs yet and do you get ducks visiting? It must be great to have the space to have so much water and wonderful to have all the beautiful reflections too.
On my visit to Chelsea Flower Show we also visited Beth Chatto’s Garden. I was looking forward to seeing her dry gravel garden but I really loved her interlinking ponds with the scale of plants and overhanging willows - have you seen it?
We have two ponds, shirl...one at the front and the other at the back of the house, instead of grass as I'm allergic to pollen...and cutting grass makes me sneeze!
We have had ducks once or twice...they mopped up the duckweed..no really!
The taddies have legs now...

Your pond has such a vibrant quality to it. I love the colours of the plants ... they are enlivening at the same time they are soothing ... I would love to see more pics!

Welcome Kate. Lovely to see you again. Thank you for your encouraging comments. I always post photos of what's happening at Barleycorn on this garden blog, so there will be more of the pond to come when the lilies are in bloom :)
